About: 

We are joining Bristol City Council as Travel Advisors, forming part of a team giving bus information in Broadmead over a three-week period as major changes occur  which will change numerous bus routes passing through the city centre.

Roles and Responsibilities: Travel Advisor

This will involve speaking to members of the public face-to-face, providing timetable information, directing people to bus stops and potentially distributing free bus tickets.

This role requires confident & pro-active communication with the general public. 

Successful applicants will be comfortable approaching members of the public and initiating conversation.

Alongside this work, you can give out information encouraging people to travel in a more sustainable way. 

You will be working alongside Bristol City Council staff who can provide additional expertise.

You must be able to commit to at least one shift on Tues 25th, Weds 26th or Thurs 27th August as there will be training sessions running on these days. We will request availability from you for the other dates. 

You do not need to be able to work all of the days of the event although a good availability across the event will be required.

The key elements of this role are:

  • Speaking to the public on the street, often during busy travel times.
  • Giving accurate information about changes to bus services.
  • Accurately recording queries and contact details, as appropriate.
  • Promoting sustainable travel initiatives in a variety of mediums to the public.

Skills and Experience:

  • You must have previous customer service experience
  • We welcome applications from those with transport experience
  • We will be prioritising local applicants who are familiar with central Bristol

Accessibility:

  • This role will require standing for extended periods of time and you will need to be comfortable working in spaces which can be busy with members of the public.

Candidate requirements:

  • You must be a UK resident or have the right to work in the UK
  • You must be able to provide at least two references from previous employers
