About
This winter, Longleat will sparkle brighter than ever with The Festival of Light 2025. The theme, British Icons, celebrates the nation’s favourite characters, landmarks, and stories – from Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep to glowing recreations of Tower Bridge, Stonehenge, and even Welsh dragons.
As guests wander the 2.5 km lantern trail, enjoy the House light show, and soak up festive extras like the Santa Train and Enchanted Christmas Tree, it’s our job to make sure their experience is unforgettable.
By joining the Ethical Staffing team, you’ll be right at the heart of this spectacle – welcoming families, guiding crowds, answering questions, and helping every visitor leave with magical memories.
Roles and Responsibilities
As an Event Steward, you will be the friendly, visible face of the Festival of Light – helping guests make lasting memories and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
Typical duties may include:
- Guest welcome & way-finding – greeting visitors with warmth, scanning tickets, offering directions, and setting a positive first impression.
- Customer service – answering questions about the event, facilities, and attractions with confidence and enthusiasm.
- Crowd management & safety – supporting the safe movement of guests around lantern routes, entrances/exits, and busy viewing areas.
- Queue support – keeping queues moving efficiently at attractions, refreshment points, or transport (e.g. the Santa Train).
- Problem–solving – spotting issues early, reporting incidents to Supervisors, and staying calm under pressure.
- Teamwork – working alongside Supervisors, Managers, and fellow stewards to deliver consistent service across the site.
- Visitor experience – ensuring every guest leaves with a smile, whether by helping a family capture a photo, assisting with accessibility needs, or simply creating a welcoming atmosphere.
This is an outdoor, winter role – so you’ll need to be comfortable working in the cold, on your feet, and staying switched-on in a busy environment.
